International Recognition
In December 2015, the “Specialist” Center under Bauman Moscow State Technical University received the LERN International Award for the fourth time — in the “Innovation Designs in Education” category.
LERN (Learning Resources Network) is an international association for continuing education professionals, annually recognizing the most innovative programs from institutions worldwide.
The Winning Program
The jury recognized the Specialist Computer Training Center’s program as the first known in the field to offer Petralex software specifically for hearing-impaired online learners.
Since launching in June 2015, more than 400 people have taken interest. Students who could not attend online classes because of hearing problems were now able to register for the center’s webinars, blended courses, and online classes.
The application allows saving user profiles separately for each ear and for different devices — speakers and headphones — adapting to each listener’s individual hearing profile.
Based in Moscow, Russia, the program serves a community of 25,000 people. In the jury’s words: “This award demonstrates the direction of the field in providing learning experiences for all learners.”
A Tradition of Excellence
This was the fourth prestigious international prize for the Specialist Center, which consistently develops practical solutions at the intersection of technology and education.
The center’s repeated international recognition reflects its commitment to building accessible educational tools for people with disabilities — without compromising on quality.
